Snails on Meth

The persistence of memory of snails on methamphetamine may hold clues to helping people on meth break free of their addiction.
Researchers at Washington State University used snails in pond water laced with methamphetamine to study how the pathological memory of drug use can be a trigger for addicts and impair the recovery process. They found that memories formed under the inflence of the drug were harder for the snails to ignore, the reason why counselors tell those in recovery not to return to the places where they used drugs.
