New Report Finds Disturbing Trend in Treatment

CASA recently released its five year study revealing that 40 million Americans, older than age 12, have addiction involving nicotine, alcohol or other drugs.  The study entitled, Addiction Medicine: Closing the Gap between Science and Practice, finds that addiction treatment is neglected by the medical system and that many of those treating addiction are not properly trained and don’t have sufficient credentials.

The report also found that medical professionals, who screen for various diseases, do not screen for risky substance abuse or long term signs of addiction. Click here to view this full report.
